What the numbers mean. The ratio is calculated with the WCAG 2 relative-luminance formula and compared against the published thresholds, so a pass here is a real pass — and the suggested alternative colour is only offered once it has been checked against the same background. Contrast is one part of readable text: size, weight, spacing and the surrounding design all matter too, and this tool cannot judge those.
