Custom Software

Some businesses run on a process no product sells. When the spreadsheet has become the system, a purpose-built application is usually cheaper than the workarounds holding it together.

What we build

Typical projects

Custom software makes sense when the process is the business, and no product sells it. It rarely makes sense when an existing product would do with a small change in how you work, and we will say so if that is what we think.

  • SaaS applications
  • Operational systems
  • Subscription platforms
  • Workflow systems
  • Account and customer systems
  • Custom business applications
  • API-backed platforms

What is included

In every project

What we need from you

  • The problem, in your own words, rather than a specification
  • Who will use it and what each of them does today
  • Any systems it has to work with
  • Discovery and written scope
  • Application design and build
  • Accounts, roles and permissions
  • Integrations with existing systems
  • Data model and reporting
  • Testing
  • Launch
  • Handover and documentation

Starting prices

What it costs to start

A starting point, not a quote. The scope and the price are agreed in writing before any work begins.

Concept projects

What this looks like built

Concept projects built to demonstrate the work. They are not client projects and the data in them is sample data.

Concept project

Subscription Management Platform

Recurring revenue spread across a spreadsheet, an inbox and a payment provider. Nobody can answer who is due to renew, who has lapsed, or what this month actually looks like without checking three places.

Common questions

Before you ask

How does scoping work?
Discovery comes first and is a real piece of work: what the system has to do, who uses it, what it connects to, and what the first version should leave out. You get a written scope and a price before development begins.
Why does it start at €5,000?
Below that, the honest answer is usually an Implementation Sprint, a smaller system, or an existing product. Starting a custom build with a budget that cannot finish it helps nobody.
Who owns the code?
You do. It runs on infrastructure you own, and you get the source and the documentation at handover.
Have you built systems like this?
The Subscription Management Platform above is a concept project of ours, built to demonstrate the work. It is not a client project and the data in it is sample data.

Have a custom software project in mind?

Tell us what you need it to do. We will come back with a scope, a price and a timeline, or tell you if a smaller piece of work would get you there.
